MEET COACH DLC

Coach DeLaCruz’s tennis journey is all about passion and perseverance. He picked up a racquet for the first time at age 12—without private lessons or USTA tournaments—and worked his way to the Illinois State Tournament in 2001 and 2002. He went on to become a two-time NJCAA All-American at the College of DuPage, helping his team win back-to-back national titles, before continuing his collegiate career and serving as team captain at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

With over 16 years of experience as a high school teacher and varsity coach in Chicago’s western suburbs, Coach DeLaCruz was named the 2022 IHSTCA Girls 2A Regional Coach of the Year. He’s passionate about helping athletes grow on and off the court through private and group lessons.

Fluent in English and Spanish and holding two master’s degrees, he connects with players and families from all backgrounds—building skill, confidence, and love for the game.
